Home Projects To Curb The Boredom

Published: 18/11/2020

Being creative in times of stress has been proven to reduce anxiety, providing comfort & solace. It has always been enforced that having a routine is hugely important. However, it can be argued that it is just as vital to provide yourself with excitement, keeping your mind active & your inner creativity teased.

At the moment, the weekends can be particularly difficult as you are made more aware of the activities you would usually be partaking in. Replacing your usual social Sunday Brunch with a homemade omelette isn't exactly ideal but we have some ways to keep you entertained.

Here's a few fun home projects that require very little extra materials:

1. Replacing door or furniture handles

Alike to changing the buttons on clothing, choosing a new handle for furniture or doors can provide them with a new lease of life. An elaborate handle can instantly add great value to a furniture piece. This could be ideal if you need to sell old pieces that you no longer require.

2. Replacing or redesigning a splashback

Splashbacks can get tired quite quickly. If you already have one in your kitchen or bathroom, consider replacing or redesigning these. To add a fresh look to existing tiles, you can apply a stencil and paint directly onto them. Not only this, but regrouting between them can also brighten & replenish your space.

3. Adding a feature wall

This may seem like a daunting task but adding a feature wall to your property can be quite simple. Either choosing a small space to redecorate can brighten & flourish within your home.

4. Wooden Floorboards?

If you are lucky enough to have wooden floorboards, they might require a little bit of attention every now and then. By simply adding varnish, it can make a huge difference. However, if your floorboards have slightly dated, consider painting them with a light colour to add a little more life whilst brighting your room.

5. Storage Organisation - Labels & Jars

Organisation of pantry goods is always quite daunting. However, a small amount of time dedicated to transferring your dry foods into labelled jars can instantly tidy your kitchen. This truly is the best way to minimise the amount of packaging that is brought into your home.

6. New Curtains

Making new curtains is much easier than you think & there are thousands of tutorials to help you with this task. If this is not for you, try replacing your curtains to instantaneously change the colour scheme within your room.

7. Repainting Doors

Repainting a front door always makes a huge difference to the exterior of a house, adding kerb appeal. The same can be said for interior doors. Try making the skirting boards to the same colour to create a sense of unity throughout the home.

8. Create Terrariums

Incorporate the outdoors & bring some life inside your home. Terrariums are easy to produce & require a form of cacti or succulent. These need very little attention to be kept alive so are the perfect low maintenance project.
